Freedom of speech? Hate speech? Or both?

freeAny discussion of the relationship between freedom of expression and hate speech in a democracy raises a series of polemical questions: Are the two in conflict? Does the right to free expression include the right to offend? Does banning hate speech equate to state censorship of opinions and attitudes? There are no simple answers, and the potential for polarization is great.

It is widely argued that freedom of speech is hate speech. I blieve there is a fine line between the two which is crossed frequently. People need to understand the consequences of the power of the comments, tweets , likes etc. They can effect individuals to a greater extent then others.
